The Art of the Drift

Posted by admin  Published in Uncategorized

Anyone with a television and internet service providers has probably heard of drift racing but few understand its origins. We see movies like The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Cars 2 that make liberal use of the technique and attribute it to Japan, and even Japanese cartoons like Initial D all focus on the concept of drift racing and its roots in Japanese culture. Many people to this day continue to think drift racing originated in Japan but the earliest known techniques for executing a drift were recorded in the 1930s during the Grand Prix.

What is drifting? It’s a technique by which the driver intentionally over steers and causes a loss of traction in the rear tires through the turn and is able to maintain both vehicle control and exit speed. This allows the car to take some majorly sharp turns while staying on the track and keeping both the speed and momentum of their vehicle.

The trick has been used by many a racer throughout the years in order to turn the tide of a competition and reach out from the back to snatch up the lead. There are even racing competitions devoted entirely to that style of driving.

Motorcross Is It A Regional Sport these Days

Posted by admin  Published in Uncategorized

Motocross racing has always been an expensive sport and given current economic conditions it is of no surprise that motorcycle sales and the sport in general have been slumping. The 12 race AMA Motocross National Series, which runs over the summer, is successful and growing but that is due to corporate sponsorships and factory race teams.

The costs involved to race motocross at any level are monstrous. A new motorcycle, protective gear, and replacement parts can cost over 10 thousand dollars. A box van or trailer is also needed to transport motorcycles, parts, gear, and tools

Nascar Racing Are All The Changes Good

Posted by admin  Published in Uncategorized

Many NASCAR fans today are constantly complaining about all of the changes that have been made to the sport. Competitors used to race cars that could actually be purchased from the local dealership, opposed to duplicate bodies with different cosmetics. In previous decades, drivers also did not have the safety equipment that is featured in today’s cars, which gave the sport a tougher image.

The changes that NASCAR has implemented are all good for the most part. The thing people do not like is that technology plays a larger role in how
